Currently
in Spain, there are approximately 1,200,000 evangelical Christians. Only
400,000 of these are actually Spanish and only half of them are committed
church members.
There are
evangelicals and churches in all cities of over 20,000 people and in most of
the towns with over 15,000. A massive part of the Spanish population has little
or no chance of hearing the good news about Jesus.
Youth in Spain
Young
people have been raised by “atheist” or non-practicing catholic parents. This means
young people have no Christian foundation and are either very closed or too
open to any spiritual experience or belief.
Those who come
from a Christian background usually find themselves in small churches, rarely
with an active youth group or good models for discipleship. Christian young
people are in great need of encouragement, training and opportunities for
ministry and growth.
